Suzanne Kennedy, Ph.D.
Director of MyTargetCollege.com and MyTargetMD.com,
and Independent Educational Consultant
I had the privilege of growing up in the three distinctly vibrant university communities: Pasadena, Boston, and Iowa City. My father was a researcher at Caltech and an internationally renowned engineering professor, first at MIT and then at the University of Iowa. The global academic climate of Iowa City influenced me to pursue graduate-level studies in higher education and test development in both the USA and Europe. I was fortunate to be mentored by professionals associated with ACT, the Educational Testing Service (developer of the SAT and GRE), and the Iowa Testing Program.
I hold a B.A. with honors from the University of Notre Dame (areas: German Language and Mathematics), a M.A. with high honors from the University of Iowa (areas: Higher Education, Educational Measurement and Evaluation, Curriculum and Instruction), and a doctorate with high honors from the University of Regensburg, Germany (areas: Higher Education and Counseling, English Linguistics and American Literature).
During the past thirty years, I have worked in both the United States and Europe in the areas of undergraduate and graduate admissions; medical school, veterinary school, and law school admissions; study abroad and international internships; scholarship and financial aid administration; and high school and college teaching. I played a key role in the establishment of European Union exchanges of students for study and internship opportunities, and in facilitating exchanges of engineering and medical students between Germany and North America. I have provided ACT, SAT, and GRE preparation for hundreds of American and international students, and counseled them about all areas of admissions, scholarship assistance, and international opportunities.
I have also published numerous articles concerning individualized assessments, program evaluation, comparative higher education, engineering education, international education, and technical English instruction. I worked as an publishing agent for books concerning clinical trials and have conducted background research for publications concerning approaches to medical education in international comparison. My global horizons have been expanded while speaking at numerous conferences in the USA, Europe, and Australia, and traveling extensively in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
I look forward to facilitating your admissions to your target academic programs!
Best regards,
